Community norms we encourage, so these spaces stay helpful and kind.
Photos and Video
Taking Photos & Video
During the school day (in staff care):
- Ask teacher before photographing/recording in class, lunch, or recess
- Please don’t record private conversations or students’ private information
- Chaperones are welcome to take photos of field trips for families who couldn’t be there or for yearbook. Just follow the teacher’s lead as to when that might be appropriate.
Public events (performances, assemblies):
Take photos freely, while keeping sharing norms in mind
Where Photos Go
Closed Groups (class WhatsApp, families only):
- Fine to share field trip and event photos
- Please don’t forward or repost outside the group
Public Spaces (Instagram, FB, newsletter, website):
- Only post photos of your own child
- If other children are in the photo with your child cropping or adding an emoji over faces is best
- PFC & Edible Social Studies Comms check official photo releases before posting
Important: Photo Release & Privacy Reminder
Not every student has a photo release. Those students (or their artwork) must not appear in anything shared publicly. If in doubt, crop them out or take “back of kids’ heads” photos!
Questions? Ask your child’s teacher or Principal Sanchez
Chatgroups
Shared expectations that respect families’ privacy choices and our teachers’ classrooms.
1. Stay On Topic
Keep conversations focused on school-related matters, such as homework, upcoming events, playdates, and educational opportunities.
2. Respectful Communication
Be kind, respectful, and supportive in all messages. We are here to collaborate and build a positive community for our children.
3. Avoid Personal Grievances
Address individual concerns directly with relevant parties or school staff rather than in the group chat. Avoid using the chat to disparage staff. They aren’t there to respond. If you have a concern about a teacher or staff member, bring it to them or the front office, not the chat.
4. Share Information Constructively
When asking for recommendations (like summer camps or activities), offer suggestions in a helpful and inclusive way.
5. Keep It Relevant & Concise
Try to keep messages clear and to the point, so the chat remains manageable for everyone.
6. Be Mindful of Privacy
Do not share personal or sensitive information about others (parents or children) in the group without consent. Respect our photo and video norms.
This will help maintain a welcoming, constructive, and focused space for everyone involved.
