Weekly Newsletter
Our main channel of communication is the weekly HMCRA Newsletter, sent every Sunday evening during the school year (except during week-long holidays). It includes updates from school staff, upcoming events, community opportunities, reminders, and more. Caregivers are automatically subscribed at the start of the school year.
If you are not receiving the weekly newsletter or need to update your email, please contact communications@harveymilkpfc.org. Sometimes the newsletter may land in your Promotions or Junk folder. Gmail users can drag the message to their main inbox or right-click to adjust settings.
Monthly Newsletter
Stay connected through our monthly newsletter, which highlights school and Castro community events, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising updates. Perfect for alumni families, neighbors, friends of the school, and current families interested in broader community news.

Room Parents & Classrooms Groups
The primary role of Room Parents is to serve as a bridge between families, teachers, and the wider school community. If you have questions, contact the PFC Room Parents at roomparents@harveymilkpfc.org. Some classes or grade levels also use WhatsApp groups—ask your Room Parent if one exists and how to join.
School Messenger
HMCRA uses School Messenger, an SFUSD service that sends families important updates by text or voicemail, including emergency alerts and select school events.
To opt in, text YES to 67587 from the mobile number listed on your child’s Emergency Card in Synergy. Need to update your contact information? Follow these SFUSD instructions. For questions, contact Ms. Antonae (robertsona@sfusd.edu) in the school office.
Paper Handouts & Forms
Most school communication is shared online, but some forms (like field trip permission slips) may still come home in your child’s backpack. Paper copies are always available upon request, and extras can be found in the school office.
Parent Faculty Club (PFC) Meetings
Join us for Parent Faculty Club (PFC) meetings on the third Wednesday of each month from 6–7:15pm, either in-person at HMCRA or online over Google Meet. It’s a great way to stay informed, share your voice, and connect with our school community.

School Events Calendar
Stay up to date with everything happening at Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy. Below you’ll find our school events and activities calendar. As well as district-wide dates, such as holidays and breaks for the year. Visit the SFUSD Academic Calendar for more information.
How to add our Events calendar to your Google Calendar:
- Open Google Calendar.
- Next to “Other calendars” on the left, click the Down arrow.
- Select Add by URL.
- Enter this Google Calendar link in the field provided.
- Click Add Calendar.
How to out Events calendar to your Apple Calendar on your iPhone/iPad:
- Open the Calendar app.
- Tap the Calendars button at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Add Calendar at the bottom.
- Select Add Subscription Calendar.
- Paste this iCal web address into the field and tap Subscribe.
- Name the calendar, pick a color, choose an account (such as iCloud), and tap Add to finish.
